Kingfisher Cottage is one of 4 cottages found on East Mellwaters Farm, it has two bedroom’s downstairs and sleeps 4. East Mellwaters farm is a 345 acres natural grassland commercial farm where we breed sheep, spring is of course one of the most interesting times when we have over 1500 lambs. There are about 4 miles of footpaths within easy walking distance of Mellwaters Barn, designed not only for wheelchairs or ‘buggy’ use but to enable all our visitors to enjoy the magnificent views that we have from various points on the farm.

To catch the afternoon sunlight and the magnificent evening sunsets Kingfisher Cottage has an exceptionally spacious living area upstairs so as to get the best views up the farm. This includes a dining area for at least 6 people, very useful when a family is sharing 2 cottages, whilst the sitting area has a large settee plus 2 armchairs. The kitchen area contains the equipment which would be expected by the modern family. There is also a cloakroom upstairs. The two bedrooms downstairs have either double or twin beds subject to personal preference. Kingfisher Cottage has a bathroom with over bath shower, WC and hand basin.

Kingfisher has many disabled features and is the most suitable cottage for full time wheelchair users. Some of these features include a through-floor lift to access the bedrooms, fully profiling and height adjustable beds, a ceiling track hoist in the bathroom to allow access to the bath, a riser / recliner chair in the lounge, a kitchen with space underneath the hob & sink for wheelchair users, moveable grab rails and the use of a portable hoist.

Miners Meadow has been purpose built to offer outstanding disabled access and facilities. This will be the perfect relaxing holiday for anyone with a disability, their family, friends and carers. You will be able to enjoy the beautiful grounds with scenic views, sculptures by celebrated local artist Ray Lonsdale, restful seating areas and accessible walking trails

All adaptations are discreet, making this suitable for all uses. The main bedroom has a ceiling track hoist and two profiling beds, one a small double and a single 3ft. There’s also an extra-large en-suite wet room with double shower, grab rails and a wheeled shower / commode chair available on request. The second bedroom has a double bed with an accessible en-suite shower room.

A beautiful light filled open plan living space with fitted kitchen, dining area and corner sofa which opens out as a double sofa bed if needed. Throughout, light switches and plug sockets are at an adjusted height to make them easy for anyone in a wheelchair to reach. Patio doors lead from here into the lovely private garden and sun filled patio set with table and chairs. To the front is a terraced area with seating looking out across the beautiful meadow.
