Award winning Beechenhill Farm, a beautiful place to stay, sits in a stunning spot in the Peak District National Park, just up the hill from Dovedale. There’s three holiday cottages with one accessible for wheelchair users. Cottage by the Pond has three bedrooms and can sleep up to six people.

The sitting room has a riser reclining chair. There are two electric profiling beds in the twin bedroom.  The large wet room bathroom contains a Closomat wash dry toilet, low bath, grab rails and a fold down shower seat in the shower. Extra disability equipment can be provided for your use including an Oxford mobile hoist, Wheeled shower chair & a Boma off road wheelchair There is a second smaller bathroom between the two downstairs bedrooms. Through the big patio window in the large sitting/dining room, complete with log burning fire, the cottage looks south over the little courtyard with outdoor seating, a barbeque you can borrow, a walled pond and the ever-changing Peak District views.

CROFT BUNGALOW

Croft Bungalow is a wheelchair friendly self catering 2 bedroom cottage in the heart of the Peak District. It’s been partially rebuilt and especially adapted for small parties and families with accessibility needs. Its level access, open plan, with wet roll-in WC & Shower, an optional pop up sensory room, and a range of accessible equipment including a hoist and electric profile bed.

There’s two bedrooms, a single with a fully profiling electric bed and a double / twin that can be set up with the profiling bed from the single for an extra charge, the single bedroom can be set up as a sensory room if required. The bathroom is a wet roll-in room with WC,  shower and sink.  The sink has a mirror at wheelchair height,  and there are two transition bars – one either side of the WC. There are grabrails throughout the bathroom including at the back of the door so that it can be closed behind by a guest in a wheelchair.

The lounge is as open plan as possible with doorways into the both bedrooms, the WC and the kitchen. There is a riser-recliner electric chair that has the prime spot in front of the widescreen TV,  and a leather settee that can also fold out into a double bed,  and a rocking chair. The electric fire is in a local gritstone fireplace and has a real fire flame effect to add to the mood on winter nights. The kitchen has a wide doorway and a table that folds up out of the way when not in use to create more floor space – but otherwise is a standard kitchen with no further adaptations.  Guests with access needs would require an able bodied carer to assist them in the kitchen.

At Hoe Grange Holidays we are passionate about providing high quality wheelchair accessible holidays with outstanding disabled facilities and a wide range of specialist equipment.

We believe in making life easy! In our accessible log cabins in the twin bedrooms there is one single electric profile bed, with sufficient clear space under the bed to use a mobile hoist, which you can book free of charge. Choose either the Oxford Advance Mobile Hoist or the Ardoo Caresafe 140 hoist and stand aid. Rainster and Hipley have Volker profile beds which are also height adjustable with pull up cot sides.

The shower rooms are easily accessible from the twin bedroom and have been designed as wheel-in wet rooms, with hand support rails, plenty of transfer space and an adjustable shower head with thermostatic control. All taps are level operated and there is a choice of mobile shower chairs available should you need one. Daisybank and Rainster also have Pressalit Care adjustable wash basins, which can be raised in height and can be moved away from the toilet allowing space for carers to give assistance from either side. Hipley has a Closomat wash and dry toilet with remote control.

For added comfort and if you need extra assistance getting to your feet, Daisybank, Rainster and Hipley all have electric rise and recline armchairs. Great attention has been given to detail, to aid the less able guest, without compromising on style. We provide specially designed wardrobes with shelving and lower clothes rails, light switches within easy reach and doors that don’t get in the way. The kitchen has good low-level storage space and you can easily reach all the appliances from a wheelchair.

Vicarage Farm offers self-catering holiday accommodation in four unique and charming cottages. Our newest cottage, Hope Cross is a fully accessible ground floor cottage for guests with a range of disabilities from mild/moderate to more severe.  Designed specifically with disabled visitors in mind, it sleeps up to four guests in 2 bedrooms and has a spacious lounge/dining area/kitchen opening on to a large patio with glorious views over fields and dales.

The cottage has two bedrooms – one double with en suite shower room, and a twin with profiling bed and electric tilting bed with optional guard rail & bed raisers.  This room has large wet room beside it with a comfort height toilet, grab rails, wheelchair accessible basin and shower with fixed and hand held heads, self-propelling shower chair and non-slip flooring.  We have a mobile hoist for you, just don’t forget bring your own sling. Each property has an electric oven, hob and microwave oven. All cottages are equipped with fridge freezers, Freeview television, DVD players and radio/CD players. 

The large patio behind the cottage enjoys uninterrupted views over fields and over towards Miller’s Dale – the only thing blocking your view may be the cows!  The patio has a dining table with benches and raised beds. We have installed wide, level paths and lighting round the entire exterior of the building, giving safe and easy access to all areas from the level car park outside the front door.

Woodlands is a self contained accommodation building with accessible facilities and equipment.  It has been designed to cater for groups which include those with additional needs and is located with fantastic views down our fields and into mature woodland overlooking the Sky Ropes and Yurt.  Our site in the heart of the Peak District has direct access to the traffic free Monsal Trail.  The building has a multi-use main living space and sleeps 10.

The property has level access throughout, no steps or stairs and wide door ways for wheelchair access. In the accessible bedroom you’ll find an Invacare Accent single profiling bed (maximum weight 145kg) with a Countrywide Healthcare Picara low risk polyurethane foam mattress. A Maxi Sky remote controlled ceiling mounted hoist system (maximum weight 200kg) with a 2 point loop spreader bar (please bring your own slings) which connects the accessible bedroom to the en-suite shower room. The shower room has a large shower area, Chiltern Invadex TRT3 shower trolley (maximum weight 190kg), adjustable height sink, toilet with grab rails & an Etac Clean shower commode chair. A Casa Lift 180E electric mobile hoist (maximum weight 180kg) can also be provided if required.
