Situated on The Calderdale Way and only 6 miles from The Pennine Way, within 13 hectares of beautiful countryside, Jerusalem Farm has fantastic facilities, enabling disabled children and young people to enjoy holidays with their families. Jerusalem Farm worked closely with the parents and carers of disabled children and young people, developing the converted barn to ensure that the facility can be easily used by all visitors. 

The three bedroom accommodation has an adjacent car park with a wheelchair friendly pathway to the barn. Inside, the barn has been designed so that disabled children, young people and their families have all the equipment they need. The bedrooms have either a double, twin or bunk beds. There’s a spacious, specially adapted bedroom with an electric profiling bed & an en-suite bathroom with a hoist which can carry people from the bed to the bathroom & level access shower with fold down seat. The fully equipped kitchen has also been tailored for wheelchair users, with work surfaces and cooking equipment lowered in height. The large terrace is the perfect place to sit and admire the outstanding countryside, spectacular valleys, woodland birds and sometimes even deer!

Summerfield Farm is more than just a holiday venue – its owner Richard Noble aims to offer less able-bodied people, their carers and family, a little taste of paradise. Set in idyllic farmland just outside the coastal jewel of the Yorkshire Coast, Whitby, and close to the North York Moors national park, it features three fully accessible holiday cottages, one of which has a flexible connecting door to an extra accessible bedroom and bathroom.

Summerfield farm has two accessible, 3 bedroom cottages sleeping up to 6 people… Albany & Cholmley. They both feature a downstairs accessible ground floor bedroom with a two or four way ceiling track hoist and a height adjustable, profiling hospital bed. There’s also a wet room with wheel in shower and a shower chair can be supplied along with other disability equipment. There’s an open plan kitchen/diner with all mod cons including a washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher, plus a lounge with a riser/recliner chair, log burning stove and a TV.. Upstairs are two further bedrooms and a bathroom for family or carers.

Sunday Cottage is 3 bedroom cottage that sleeps 5 located in the village of Grosmont, some 7 miles from the centre of Whitby. The property is fully fitted to a Tourist Board assessed 4 star gold standard. Sunday Cottage has one car parking space which is clearly marked with a blue badge sign

The ground floor comprises a lounge, kitchen/dining room, and a disabled accessible bedroom with a Guldman ceiling track hoist that runs from the electrically profiling adjustable BaKare bed and into the wet room which has a wheel in shower. There’s a mobile shower chair available to use and there’s emergency call alarms. On the first floor there are two en-suite bedrooms, one being a double bedded room ensuite with a shower and the other a twin bedded room en-suite with a bath with shower over. Outside is an accessible terrace with views out over the countryside.

THE DAIRY

The Dairy is a one bed accessible single story cottage in the Yorkshire Dales and sleeps 2. It replicates The Byre with all services on the ground floor. In addition, The Dairy provides facilities for guests with mobility, hearing and visual impairments to National Accessibility Standards, if they need them. If they don’t, then they almost all just magically disappear!

The bed can be set up to be a single or a double, a single electric profiling bed can be provided without charge if needed.  The bathroom has a bath and a wheel in shower, a wheeled shower chair can be provided by request along with a portable hoist and many other disability aids. The wet room at The Dairy can be provided with the integrated facilities – shower seat, grab rails – and then hey presto, if you don’t need them they can be removed, so that only ‘blanks’ are on the wall.

The Dairy has a great number of facilities already integrated into the cottage – some of which are obvious to see, but many are there only when you need them.

In the kitchen, as with any fitted kitchen, the cupboards under the sink and hob appear as they would for anyone to use. But they can be removed from the cottage totally so that wheelchair uses can easily use these facilities. Just like magic! The private patio at The Dairy is fully accessible from the lounge, where our guests can enjoy the views across the large garden and Bishopdale beyond. Guests can continue from the patio, onto the courtyard and across the level pathway throughout the large garden.
