A stunning and completely accessible holiday home, overlooking the ocean in the beautiful, friendly and unspoilt seaside village of Noordhoek. The Beach House is built on a sand dune overlooking  Noordhoek’s famous Long Beach. With 4 double bedrooms (3 of them en-suite) and an additional  separate en-suite double studio flat, it’s flexible accommodation will meet all needs. One of our rooms is fully accessible and has a lift to access the rest of the house. We have designed the house to meet many different needs. We know it is the only holiday home with this level of adaption in Cape Town, more than likely the whole of South Africa.

Sitting on a sand dune above the beach and “upside down” to take advantage of the ocean views, The Beach House looks out over Noordhoek’s famous Long Beach. It has been fully adapted to accommodate most disabilities. The kitchen, living & dining areas are all in one room – completely open plan and therefore barrier free. The adapted bedroom has furniture spaced to make it easy to manoeuvre a wheelchair. 

The accessible bedroom and bathroom has a continuous, level polished concrete floor from the hall for ease of use with a wheelchair. The double doors open out to a ramped deck with further ramped access to the pool area where a pool hoist is located. The ceiling hoist goes right from the bed to the bath, passing over the toilet (although we have Rifton Blue Wave toilet chairs available). In the bathroom we have installed a wheelchair accessible basin with a large handle tap and roll in style wet room shower with large handle shower controls and rails to aid standing. Both the bath and the shower have additional attendant shower heads.

We’ve created a step free garden that wraps around the house. The pedestrian door from the garage is ramped and leads to the brick pathway (over 1.2m wide) going to the front door. If you follow the path round it takes you to the pool which is on the ocean side of the house. The pool area is paved with plenty of space for safe access. There is a removable manual pool hoist so everyone can swim. By the pool there is another ramp to directly access the adapted suite, lower deck and the rest of the house. Also on the lower deck is an outdoor shower (hot and cold water) and a dining area.

The self contained double studio flat is beautifully appointed with a vaulted roof and an ensuite shower room. The flat has it’s own kitchen and double doors out to a private deck with glorious mountain views. Perfect for couples visiting the area, extra members of the family or carers for the main house. Please note this room is not wheelchair accessible. It is situated above the double garage in the garden with an exterior staircase leading to it.

Always contact the property’s owner before you make a firm booking to ensure all equipment listed can still be provided and is in working order. ALWAYS remember to take your own sling with you in order to use the hoist, most places DO NOT provide slings.
