An electric ceiling hoist runs from French doors over sleeping area to toilet / wet room (approx. max weight 130 kg / 20 Stones). There is a walk in shower with handrails for standing or sitting with a non-slip safety floor. A multipurpose shower / toileting chair is provided. Raised toilet seat and walking frame can be provided on request along with cot sides for a single bed and a pressure-relieving mattress.

One of the bedrooms and its en-suite has been comprehensively adapted to enable a guest in a wheelchair or limited mobility to stay in comfort and the property was designed to meet the needs of a wheelchair user. This means that disabled guests can move easily around the property both in and outside.

The bathroom has a bath; fitted with a hand held shower, and a Gerberit Aqua Clean 8000+ Care toilet with a wheeled Osprey commode/shower chair over. It has tiled anti-slip flooring.

The accessible bedroom is next to the sitting room and has similar wheelchair accessible sliding doors onto the terrace, and is a bright airy room. This bedroom is equipped with an ArjoHuntleigh Minuet profiling electric bed with a Hi-Visc mattress. There is an ArjoHuntleigh Maxi Sky 2 tracking ceiling hoist system that can transport the guest into the bathroom, and into the bath. The ceiling hoist is fitted with the clip type fitting and we have both dressing slings and bathing slings available in the house. If you have Oxford type slings let us know, and we can change our spreader bar to accommodate your slings.

The L-shaped kitchen/ diner is a great place to socialize whilst you prepare dinner. The well-appointed kitchen is fully fitted with an Aga Rayburn cooker/boiler, which also provides the hot water and heating.

The comfortable sitting room with its oak flooring and log burner has been arranged to allow wheelchair access and is an appealing bright room overlooking the terrace that you can access through double sliding doors. The terrace has patio furniture and a BBQ for al fresco dining.

The accommodation is on three floors with a wheel-chair lift from the ground floor to the special bedroom and bathroom. The entrance is ramped and leads to the living room, the kitchen and dining room. The kitchen is equipped with a cooker, fridge and freezer, dish-washer, microwave and food processor. There is also a washing machine and tumble dryer.

On the first floor the Special Bedroom has a profiling bed with cot sides and a 3ft single bed, the Special Bathroom is equipped with a Kingcraft rise and fall bath, an adjustable sink and showering facilities. Also available are an electric ceiling track hoist and a range of shower/toiletting chairs. Families needing to use the hoist are asked to bring their own toilet sling. Also on this floor there is a double bedroom and bathroom. There is a further double bedroom and two single bedrooms on the second floor.

Bedroom one: Has a single, standard pine bed with overhead hoist, there is a second single pine bed which comes from underneath the single to create two singles or one double bed. Bedroom two: Has a single medi-bed which is profiling and electrically height adjustable with the option to have cot sides up or down. This bed has an overhead hoist which takes the user to either their wheelchair in the bedroom or straight through into the wet room where they may be lowered onto the electrically height adjustable shower / changing unit or lowered into the shower / commode chair. Bedroom three: One Standard pine frame double bed with monkey pole and en-suite to shower room with toilet and hand basin

The main accessible bathroom (wet room) has a height adjustable shower / changing unit and a wheeled shower / commode chair that can be used in the level access shower or over the Clos-o-mat automatic wash / dry toilet.

The kitchen area has been kept as simple as possible with the minimum of clutter. It is served by an electrically height adjustable sink / hob unit and small work area. There is also another small fold down work area and all equipment has been placed so it is accessible from a wheelchair with low level pan stands and small wheeled trolleys to accommodate storage.

In the lounge is a leather rise and recline arm chair, a 40” plasma TV with DVD recorder and cast fire with glow effect. The dining area is part of the lounge area and includes an extendable dining table which most wheelchairs will go under. We also have a height adjustable wheelchair dining / activity table on wheels for various uses including exterior BBQ use.

The accommodation, which is level throughout, comprises; entrance hall, large lounge/dining room the furnishings of which include a child’s adjustable armchair. The kitchen, off the lounge, is fully equipped with cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave and food processor. A washer/ dryer is also available.

There are three bedrooms, one with a double bed with room for a cot supplied if required, the second has one 3ft single bed and two 3ft bunks. The third bedroom has one 3ft bed and a profiling bed, fully adjustable with cot sides.

The en-suite bathroom is equipped with a Kingcraft rise and fall bath, a sink which is adjustable, showering facilities, electric ceiling track hoist, shower chair and a range of toiletting aids. Families needing to use the hoist are asked to bring their own toilet sling. There is also a family bathroom and a cloakroom. A high chair is also available as are floor sitters and a Jenx table/easel.

Each cottage has central heating, freeview tv and wifi. Also cookers, microwaves and fridges with small freezer. Bed linen, gas and electricity and utilities are included. We have a visitors laundry that is open daily from early morning to late evening.

All doors are extra wide with level entry. Shower rooms are laid out for carefree use in the wet room style. We have 4 cottages with ground floor accommodation and a further 2 cottages with a second floor for carers and family.

The larger cottages all have fully profiling beds and the smallest has twin basic electric beds available. Hoists will easily fit underneath all our beds. We have hydraulic hoists and a stand-aid hoist. Please reserve these items when booking your holiday. Also a selection of shower chairs and commodes and air mattress are available which need to be reserved on booking your visit. Monkey pole, cot sides and much more available.

We have three wheelchair accessible bungalows with covered porches with either 2 or 3 bedrooms,  car parking directly outside to 1:12 ramp access with handrails.  All internal doors are 2’9” (840mm) and the windows are lowered so that our guests can see out.  No steps, all level, and all have smooth carpets.  Sockets and rocker light switches are approx. 1200mm above floor level. 

All 3 properties have a shower room with wheel in shower, an accessible sink with space underneath for a wheelchair user, plenty of grab rails and an emergency pull cord

We have bed-guards and bed-blocks available for some of the beds, a wheeled shower chair/commode with removable arms, and a freestanding toilet frame, plus chair-blocks and a ‘percher’ chair available for guests to use.  We have a small hoist available

Our property features two modern living rooms, perfect for relaxing with the family after a day at the beach. With 8 bedrooms, 6 of which are en-suite there will be plenty of sleeping spaces for the whole family. Our house features two spacious and well equipped kitchens, perfect for evening meals with the family.

The house can be booked completely which sleeps 15 or by apartment which sleeps either 7 or 8. A door can be locked to separate both floors, with separate access available for each floor. 

Although the property is designed to provide holidays for those with learning disabilities they do have a twin bedroom that’s wheelchair accessible. This comes with standard wooden single beds and an en-suite wet room with level access shower and a lowered wash basin. A portable hoist can be provided by request.

The entrance leads into the main part of the building where you will find a fully equipped kitchen with cooking range, fridge, freezer, combination microwave/grill/oven, coffee machine and a dishwasher.

The bedrooms have either a double, single or bunk beds, bedroom 7 has a single electric profiling bed. A Birdie electric portable hoist is available to use in the bedrooms.

The main bathroom, (which includes an adult sized shower bed, a toilet, Jacuzzi bath, roll-in shower and a ceiling mounted tracking hoist), is also located in the central part of the building.

A spacious open plan lounge/dining and recreation area (including: Snooker table, Freeview television, DVD/video player, xbox and board games) is set in the centre of the building. Leading from the lounge/dining area you have access to the decked Patio with outdoor furniture and around the far side from here is a separate BBQ area. The whole centre is surrounded by a wonderful lawn area with a private path down over the river to the spectacular Walled Gardens.

The ponds and waterways are a great fascination for children and are full of surprises. There are other child-orientated features, cleverly placed so as not to be over obtrusive. The gardens are fully accessible to wheelchair users.

The highlight of your holiday at Ty Glyn has to be the wonderfully secluded sensory walled garden. Set within a beautiful woodland area alongside the River Aeron it has been developed specifically for people with special needs. Its south facing productive terraced kitchen garden overlooks herbaceous borders, orchard and ponds with child orientated features and surprises amidst unusual shrubs and perennials.

One of the working units in the kitchen is adjustable for height. The utility room contains a washing machine and dryer. At this level also is the family bathroom, a wheel in shower room and two bedrooms, one with two single beds and bunkbeds, the other with two single beds.

A small indoor heated swimming pool is also available; it has a hoist for pool entry and a changing room with an adjustable changing table.

The wheelchair lift gives access to the first floor where there is a large lounge with a balcony. A television, video player and special adjustable armchair are provided. The ‘special bedroom and bathroom’ which contain an overhead hoist, Kingcraft hydraulic bath, adjustable sink, profiling bed with cot sides and carer’s bed, are next to the parents’ bedroom which has a double bed and en-suite shower room. The whole of the ground floor of Yr Hen Stablau is wheelchair accessible, and the doors are all 800mm wide or wider. All doors open 90° back or further and all rooms are laid out to have clear wheelchair entrance, as tested by the many wheelchair visitors here since we opened in 2006. All doors to the outside have low kleertred sills for easy wheeling.

We can arrange free transport on arrival from the railway and bus stations in Machynlleth and help carrying luggage on request.

On the ground floor are a double or twin bedroom, shower room and toilet , sitting room, kitchen/ dining room and hall.  There is wheelchair access to the terraces front and back, which are very popular for birdwatching, sitting in the sun and eating outside. There is a mobile hoist available on request, ramp for the toilet, risers for beds and chairs, and an armchair commode, all free of charge.

The shower room has roll-in shower, hand basin, WC, grab rails, lever taps, shower stool and plastic chair, and underfloor heating.

All door handles are disability friendly, the basins and kitchen sink have lever taps, and the colour scheme is planned for good visibility of doors, windows, handles, floors, worktops and cupboards. The cottage is light with plenty of windows, skylights and lights inside and out. There is a radio, CD player, satellite digital TV with Freeview and DVD player, and free Wifi.
